The annual Quinnipiac River fish stocking program took place on Friday, April15 in preparation for the opening day of fishing season on Saturday, April 16. Approximately 160 Rainbow, Brook and Brown trout (seven were tagged) ranging in size from 12 to 20 inches were released into the Quinnipiac River alongside the Gorge Linear Trail.Funding for the program derives from the annual Mike Roberts Game Dinner Fundraiser, and the Quinnipiac River Watershed Association (QRWA). They are released under a fish liberation permit issued by the CT Department of Environmental Protection.Anyone catching a tagged fish will win a prize and should contact the QRWA Fish Stocking Program chairperson at 860-919-7236.
